January 2012: New Beginnings

I should probably go ahead and introduce this post by saying that in 2010 I saw 365 new-to-me movies — totaling out to approximately 1 per day. In 2011, my goal was 500 films and I managed to not only complete that, but double my amount from 2010 at a whopping 730 films (2 per day)! Most of my intense film watching is definitely due to Marya (my inspiration and Jedi Master, whom I’m actually borrowing/stealing the idea for this post from) whose 2011 in Film list totals out to over 1000. But this year I’m going to take things nice and slow with a modest goal of 366 (leap year!) films.

At the end of each month, you should all stay tuned for a post similar to this one. I’ll post the entire list of new-to-me films for the month of January and then go on to point out a few new favorites, as well as a decade breakdown. Just under fifty films for the first month of the year (and 144 tv shows if you care to know).

So here goes nothing — enjoy!

OH MY GOD I CAN’T BELIEVE FOXY BROWN GOT A SHOUT-OUT!!! And that you enjoyed it that much! Can I just say, one of my favourite films of all time… HaHa!

Also, Liza. She just manages to find a way into most any list that anyone ever concocts anywhere. Bravo.

I have to admit, I’m a bit slack when it comes to films and I should’ve seen at least half of these films already and haven’t. Now I’ve got LOADS of work to do!

One of the most breathtakingly beautiful films I’ve seen is The Lovely Bones. Truly visually stunning and just dripping with elegant poetry. What did you think of it? I feel as though you probably may have seen it already and if you haven’t… shame on you… HaHA.

I shall be intently awaiting your next list :)

The Woman in Black is bad? I thought it was supposed to be good… LOL

@amy, I personally wasn’t a big fan of it but a lot of people were for some reason. It was really nicely shot, but the horror aspect was just predictable as hell.

47 New to Me Films. – so you’re beating me there… and totally beating me on tv shows. LOL
