My Favorite Food TV~

Andrew Zimmern

My family and I lovingly refer to Zimmern as “el come-basura” (the garbage hoover), mainly because we can’t remember his last name and he eats everything at his disposal that we wouldn’t necessarily dare to eat. xD Like the picture above, I don’t know what it is… it looks like some large larva/worm or crustacean. It reminded me of Peruvian Suri [1] (which are super tasty fried, by the way), but Zimmern hasn’t come to Peru, even though he’s been up north in Ecuador~~~  so I doubt it’s that.

Despite not always agreeing with his food choices, I gotta admit Zimmerman has the guts to do stuff nobody would ever try. He has a super — almost TOO cheery — outlook of all things food. He would happily describe the taste of ammonia as if it were… just one of them five regular tastes xD

Having said that, Zimmern has, at least, visited the Peruvian Embassy (though he should really get his hungry butt down here), and had some fancy not-sooooooooo-weird Peruvian dishes. I know he could do much, MUCH better than octopus ceviche, non? He also finishes his segment with a lovely quote~

Food opens more doors and makes more friends than any other form of diplomacy. It allows us to explore each other’s differences and find common ground while celebrating each other’s cultures, changing the way we understand our planet one meal at a time.

    Wth, you stole my idea!

    Nigella foreverrrrrrrrrr that woman is just so HOT!

    We have some really great Swedish tv-chefs: Tina Nordstöm and Leila Lindholm. Those are my two favorites.

      @Julyssa, I so didn’t. You said you were writing an ode to Nigella, and I was already writing my post then.

        @amy,
        “But Nigella cooks like most of us. She’s not glamorous and often tells us that she’s lazy”

        My friend, I beg to disagree with the first part of your statement. If this woman is not the embodiment of glamour and sensuality I don’t know who is. I wish I looked a tenth like her when cooking.

        I am a total Nigella FANATIC. So I’m glad to see her featured here ;)

          @Echydo, yeah. I know, but she doesn’t spend 6hrs cooking pork telling us that’s the way to do pork, instead she’ll probably pick up a pack of pancetta and do it in a way that she’ll tell us “it’s just as good as cooking pork for six hours in the oven.” xD

  2. oh gosh. all the food shows. I finished the first season of Around the World in 80 Plates recently and I liked that they had to try and make local cuisine with locals judging the results.
