Smack In The Face: Interview With Asian Chairshot

How did it feel to be nominated for a Korean Music Award so early in your musical career?

Of course, we were really honored to be nominated for two awards at this year’s Korean Music Awards. Although we didn’t win, it was still great to be nominated since we haven’t even released a proper full-length album yet. Hopefully the reactions to Horizon will be just as strong as they were to our Mask EP, and we’ll be nominated for more prizes at next year’s awards show.

What are you most excited about for your upcoming trip to the UK? Is this your first time visiting the UK?

Yes, this is our first time visiting the UK. We’re excited and nervous as well. We’re looking forward to meeting lots of new people and musicians. We think this tour will be a really good learning experience for us.

How do you feel about the increasing wave of new rock music in Korea? Do you think it’s a new movement for the Korean music scene?

Having more people listen to your music is always a good thing. I think one day we’re going to see some world-famous Korean rock acts. Right now, it’s just a small movement with more and more acts beginning to get greater attention abroad. But we hope people keep watching and paying attention. We promise that if they do, they’ll see and hear come very cool stuff. There’s so much more to Korea’s music scene than just Psy or K-pop.
