TCM Classic Film Festival 2012

Saturday began with a very early morning screening of The Longest Day, which really made the day seem the longest, followed by a discussion with star Robert Wagner. Those not able to handle a three hour long war movie first thing in the morning could be found at the Kim Novak hand print ceremony in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

Other screenings included:

  • The world restoration premiere of 1947’s Fall Guy
  • The Thomas Crowne Affair with director Norman Jewison
  • Snow White and the Seven Dwarves with actress Ginnifer Goodwin
  • Film historian Serge Bromberg presenting 3D rarities
  • The 70th anniversary digital print of Casablanca
  • The 1924 Harold Lloyd film, Girl Shy, with live music by The Robert Israel Orchestra
  • Gun Crazy hosted by Eddie Muller who discussed the film with its star Peggy Cummins
  • The 60th anniversary world restoration premiere of Singin’ in the Rain with star Debbie Reynolds before the film, and Gene Kelly’s widow, Patricia Ward Kelly, afterwards.
  • The Black Cat with the children of its stars, Sara Karloff and Bela G. Lugosi
  • Dracula with its only living cast member, 102 year old Carla Laemmle
  • A Night To Remember in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic sinking
  • The Marx Bros. in Duck Soup at midnight.

That’s not even all of the choices for the day. Festival goers must be savvy with their choices. No regrets.

The evening also featured a celebration of Turner Classic Movies’ 18th birthday with cake served by hosts Robert Osborne and Ben Mankiewicz.
