The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: X-Men movies are here to stay

FRIDAY

So, Fox has purchased an “X-Force” domain name, and apparently it’s been confirmed that the studio indeed wants to make a movie about them.

This past week or so, we’ve been “off camera,” chasing rumours that Fox are on the verge of announcing plans for their extended X-Men movie universe. We were tipped off that they will – unsurprisingly – be using their panel at Comic-Con as the launch pad.

And then, comic creator Rob Liefeld confirmed that an X-Force movie has been planned since march. And he also talked about a possible Magneto solo film in development too. Please, let them get Fassbender for this! And Ian McKellen of course~

And then, The Hollywood Reporter said Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2 director) has been asked to write and possibly direct this X-Force movie. Jeff Wadlow indirectly confirmed it on his twitter, as well as telling us about a possible announcement on the SDCC!

So I guess the surprise at the Fox panel on the SDCC could be not only about X-Men: Days of Future Past possible showing of footage or cast appearance as has been especulated, but about this planned movies. Yup, the X-Men universe is expanding~

Talking about the SDCC, here’s what the most geeky sites want to watch, as well as the 10 must-check movie panels!

And here are some concept teaser posters of a movie I want some news of at the SDCC. Here we see all the key players in Thor: The Dark World, and besides Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins and Jaimie Alexander, we have our first look at Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Algrim/Kurse!

Steven Moffat talks about Doctor Who to Entertainment Weekly, specially about the Anniversary episode (almost movie lengh!) and the announcement of a new Doctor (not yet!), and how he almost talked Matt Smith into staying a bit more:

We discussed ages ago that we would do three series and then he would do the 50th and then he’d do Christmas. That was Plan A for a very, very long while. That may sound cold that it was so far in advance but you’ve got to plan a career. [Laughs] The question was, “Will I be able to talk him out of it?” We went out for lunch and he said that he’d come very close to doing another series but it was the same argument: “If I do another series, I think I might do two more series, or three more series. I think I might never leave.”

And here are some behind-the-scenes pictures of Benedict Cumberbatch on Top Gear, which I’ll get to watch on Sunday. He sure looked like he was having fun~

So, talking about Emmy nominations, Mads Mikkelsen revealed he is a Hannigram shipper~

I hope I don’t get nominated before Hugh [Dancy] does, because he’s doing tremendous work on the show. Maybe we could be nominated as a couple — the bromance! [Laughs] I can say really, really honestly that Hannibal really does love Will Graham. That doesn’t mean he won’t eat him, of course. But he loves him. He’d prefer to have him as a friend for the rest of his life. If that doesn’t work out, he’ll find something else.

Finally, we have two new posters of movies I want to watch, Kick-Ass 2 [1] and 300: Rise of an Empire [2].

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, here are some more costume designs for Man of Steel, as well as Iron Man 3‘s key frame art, and Despicable Me 2‘s mostly minions designs.

I was talking about this- do you think Mads’ votes are gonna get split with Dancy’s? Both are really leads, and it does get that bromance thing. If Will had been a woman, he would get Lead Actress and there’d be no conflict.

And YES! to Jackman’s three-way studio combo split.

@amy, Yes to both things. Hugh Jackman talks to my heart. And I am worried about Hannibal, I mean, I love both leads and I wished both got nominated. Mads gets the titular character but Dancy’s doing a lot of work!
