Despicable Me 2 is making bank! But ouch for The Lone Ranger, specially after ready this:

Comedian Kevin Hart’s latest concert movie Let Me Explain brought in $4.7 million on Wednesday. That’s nearly half as much as The Lone Ranger despite only playing in 876 theaters compared to “Ranger‘s” 3,904 and receiving very limited marketing.

More like The Flop Ranger, amirite? …I am not sorry for that terrible pun.

Here’s the full panel schedule from SDCC on July 18th! It sure looks like a fun day! That’s also the Sherlock day!

And here’s the trailer of Your National Theatre, a collection memories celebrating the first 50 years of the National Theatre in London. In this trailer we get to hear the memories of Niamh Cuasck, Lenny Henry, Tom Hiddleston, John Lithgow and Luke Treadaway~

FRIDAY

Hideo Kojima, creator and director of the Metal Gear Solid games, was one of the lucky bastards who got to watch an early screening of Pacific Rim and he totally endorses it, calling it “the ultimate otaku film” and an “inspirational love letter”. Here are some less enthusiastic but definitely positive comments about the movie, from Emma Watson to Kanye West.

Talking about Guillermo del Toro, he says he wouldn’t mind linking his Justice League Dark movie to any DC Universe movie.

The great thing about the ‘Dark Universe’ is that you have this possibility of creating a supernatural group and you can play by different rules but I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe. So if there’s any correlation, I will honor it.

King of the World James Cameron talked about unnecessary use of 3D in some movies like Man of Steel and Iron Man 3:

If you spend $150 million on visual effects, the film is already going to [look] spectacular [and] perfect.

He also makes de distinction of shooting in 3D and converting to 3D, specially with the technology being pushed on directors “who are not comfortable or do not like 3D.”

Jeph Loeb talks about Avengers Assemble and how its tone is more like Joss Whedon’s The Avengers than The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, plus a cute clip where said Avengers fight over Falcon’s mum’s cookies~

Cookies are serious business!

Besides that, USA Today gives us a couple of clips. The first one is from Avengers Assemble, which is also accompanied by an article about newcomer Falcon, voiced by Bumper Robinson, who has quite the experience voicing super-heroes such as War Machine in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Cyborg in Justice League: Doom. Here’s what he has to say about his new character:

[Falcon] is extremely — pardon the cliché — geeked out to be a part of the Avengers, but at the same time he’s very interested in showing his mettle and his worth to the team as soon as possible.

The second one is from Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel which will get a 90s-second sneek peak during Avengers Assemble premiere on Sunday on Disney XD. This special episode of Phineas and Ferb premieres August 16th on Disney Channel.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, here are some character design from the Deadpool game [1], and Monsters University [2].
