The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Get that franchise money!

WEDNESDAY

Jennifer Lawrence debuts on Billboard’s Hot 100 with ‘The Hanging Tree’ at number 12! Slay a bit, girl!

Get ready this March for Frozen Fever! A new short-film with the characters from Frozen, that will be shown before Cinderella! Here’s a brief (do you need more for a short-film?) synopsis:

In Frozen Fever, it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.

Ten new hi-res stills from The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies! Here’s a couple of Bilbo and Precious, and Bolg whose face only a mother could love. And maybe not even then, these are orcs we are talking about!

The ladies of Ant-Man had things to say about the movie. Evangeline Lilly talks about the different versions of the script before and after Edgar Wright, and how in the end it was the right choice to let Edgar go:

I feel like, if [Marvel] had created Edgar’s incredible vision — which would have been, like, classic comic book — it would have been such a riot to film [and] it would have been so much fun to watch. [But] it wouldn’t have fit in the Marvel Universe. It would have stuck out like a sore thumb, no matter how good it was. It just would have taken you away from this cohesive universe they’re trying to create. And therefore it ruins the suspended disbelief that they’ve built.

Judy Greer, also in the Ant-Man movie, revealed more about her character:

I’m Paul Rudd’s estranged ex-wife. We have a daughter together and our relationship is, well, estranged, but I feel like my character is still rooting for him to succeed. I guess that’s about as much as I can say. They gave us all these papers of things we’re allowed to say and things we’re not allowed to say, and I left them in Atlanta. Sorry!

So, yep. That joined with the idea the movie is based in the “To Steal an Ant-Man” arc mean we are totally getting Cassie Lang! And maybe later a Young Avengers movie if the superhero genre can keep interesting moviegoers for that long. I certainly hope so!

In great news, The Flash and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. are consistenly getting better ratings! Slay a bit, my dears! Keep on the good work and don’t let them cancel you! The series will get their midseason finale next Tuesday night at their respective times. The Flash will return on January 20th, but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be off for longer since we will get Agent Carter instead on January 6th!

Ridley Scott may direct Blade Runner 2 after all~ He was saying before how he ain’t gonna do it, and now he backtracks and says the emotional connection he has with the movie makes it harder to find another director for it.

In movies that are actually getting a new director, we have The Crow remake. Yup, Corin Hardy will replace F. Javier Gutiérrez because that dude will direct the next movie in The Ring franchise. But the important questions is, will Luke Evans remain as the titular character? Seems like he won’t if that’s what you can infer from this interview where he was asking if The Crow gig was progressing~

It’s not, no. No at the minute The Crow is not, not for me, I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’m very interested in and you know, I can’t wait much longer!
