The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Get that franchise money!

MONDAY

One last time! The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies had its world premiere in London and I have many feels! Some are not so good feels tho since Warner was a cheapstake and didn’t cough up the money to bring all the kiwi dwarves. WTF, Warner! The cast (and Peter Jackson) who were there were adorable and charming. And I love who Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom are adorable together. Also, there’s some conflicting views about Gandalf doing the can-can~ I chose to believe Luke Evans’ side of the argument! Here’s an album of the premiere pictures and here’s a pic of the whole gang who managed to get there looking all dapper and stylish.

BTW, during the live stream of world premiere we were shown an epic clip depicting the start of the battle where orcs start their attack and the good guys must get ready! After that we got a second clip of Bilbo saying (not asking!) Gandalf that he must go and warn the dwarves (specially that stubborn Thorin!) of the imminent orc attack!

In related news, remember how people thought Benedict Cumberbatch was the voice (and possibly the sith with the new lighsaber) in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer? Well, he’s totally not, and he confirmed it at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2014. But for those who still don’t believe, Andy Serkis went up and confirmed he’s the one doing the voice over at The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies world premiere. But he didn’t confirm what part he is playing! Some sources say that he’s actually playing a dual role in the Star Wars film, one in mo-cap as many expected, and the other one in his own face (maybe with make-up?). Apparently that role will be “pivotal role in the first act story arc that entwines with Daisy Ridley’s backstory”.

On more Andy Serkis movies news, Comicbookmovie had an interview with Matt Reeves apropos of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes DVD/Blu-ray, and he talked about his plans for the next movie which includes transforming Caesar into Ape Moses~

I hope to cross an epic landscape that will be expansive and emotional, it’s a story that’s going to take Caesar and cement his position and transformation into an epic figure almost along the lines of an Ape Moses. We think it’s going to be his biggest arc yet, and we’ll draw on all of the scenes which have been a basis from the two films by really looking at his existential nature and see him really grappling with the light and dark in a painful way.

Remember Outlander? That new awesome TV series based on the books written by a kinda annoying author? Well, it also has the curse of the midseason finale so we have to wait until freaking April to see the rest of the season. Meanwhile, and in order for the casual fan to remember Outlander is a thing that exists and will come back in four months, here’s a small glimpse of things to come! It is short but… well not sweet, but certainly great!

Here we have the nominees for the Annie Awards It has popular favourites like Big Hero 6, How To Train Your Dragon 2, The Book of Life, The Boxtrolls, The Lego Movie and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya~ Yay for Feast‘s nomination in animated short subject. Also yay for Bob’s Burgers and The Regular Show for animated television/broadcast production!

Here’s the launch trailer of episode one (‘Iron From Ice’) of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game~
