Rodrigo’s Top 10 Unexpected Songs To Hear In 2013 Films

3. Aventura – Mi Corazoncito

For a while, I forgot how the world can embrace diversity, even in an LGBT film. Still, I wasn’t expecting Blue is the Warmest Color to have its Latino touch during Adele’s dancing scenes. I could list every single song from those scenes, but Aventura stands out here given my mixed reactions towards the bachata genre in general.

2. El Gato DJ – Mueve la Colita

This is the song that finally led me to create this list! Even if #1 had me thinking about do this for quite some time, but I’m still very fresh from my viewing of The Great Beauty, so that film pushed me into doing this.

10 minutes into the film and suddenly a bunch of Italian folks (of diverse ages) are dancing to a Mueve La Colita remix [audio] of all songs. It’s not only shocking, but it’s also fucking hilarious!

¡Mueve la colita, mamita rica! ¡Mueve la colita! *clap, clap, clap*

Easily one of the biggest highlights from The Great Beauty.

While I didn’t loved or hated the film, I’ll gladly put it way ahead of Paolo Sorrentino’s previous boring effort, This Must Be The Place.

La Grande Bellezza should top the list. I don’t usually get surprised with songs in films, but that was just… so.random. That moment alongside the Kitty Phone Sex in Her top my list of unexpected things on film from last year.
