Rodrigo’s Top 10 Unexpected Songs To Hear In 2013 Films
10. Foo Fighters – Everlong
This kind of song is very unlikely to hear on a Martin Scorsese flick, but it happened. However, the song’s chorus fit well with Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) on The Wolf of Wall Street when Jordan buys his wife (Margot Robbie) a yacht.
9. Paul McCartney – Blue Sway
Frances Ha was a surprisingly great film to watch considering I’m not much of a Greta Gerwig fan. While it was a given to hear David Bowie’s Modern Love [MV] on the film because of the trailer, I wasn’t expecting Paul McCartney to be part of the film’s soundtrack. But then again, I’m not too familiar with Noah Baumbach, but that’s something I’ll fix when the time is right.
8. Cracker – Low
This is a really great 90’s alternative rock song that I sadly began listening to it 2-3 years ago. Hearing it on The Wolverine felt great when Logan (Hugh Jackman) visits a bar early during the film.
7. Monsieur Periné – La Ciudad
When Valentín (Eugenio Derbez) started his road trip from Mexico to USA, I expected songs from Mexico or USA being used in said transition. However, it was a pleasant surprise to hear Monsieur Periné during Instructions Not Included for that particular moment.
La Grande Bellezza should top the list. I don’t usually get surprised with songs in films, but that was just… so.random. That moment alongside the Kitty Phone Sex in Her top my list of unexpected things on film from last year.
