The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Brilliant yet no fantastic

THURSDAY

All the new extra (and unfinished) scenes from Marvel’s Phase 1 box-set all making me so giddy! They are so cheesy but awesome. Here’s one from Tom Hiddleston as Loki because duh!

RDJ, that lovely man, spend his b-day promoting Iron Man 3 in South Korea… Remains flawless. Also, talks about how this movie will be better than the last one:

[We] figured it would be nice to get back to a little more of what we saw in the first Iron Man, which is Tony in the suit a little bit less, or only in parts of the suit, or developing a bunch of new suits for your viewing pleasure.

Aw, Chris Pine is jealous that Benedict Cumberbatch gets all the love:

When I went to Japan for Star Trek, the fans were at the airport waiting. But they didn’t scream until Benedict [Cumberbatch] got off the plane. And I was like, ‘F**k man, what about me?’

Talking about Benedict, he talks about his fab body in Star Trek Into Darkness.

It was the first time I’d really intensely shape-shifted … To go up from a 38 chest to a 42, eating 4,000 calories a day and training two hours a day, as well as the stunt rehearsals and fight choreography, was the most physical demand that’s ever been made of me for the screen.

The Posh Alien Prince seems to never rest though: Benedict will be in the new Guillermo del Toro movie. Yep! We will see him in Crimson Peak. Man, we are going to see him everywhere for the next two/three years and I am fine with that!

Also, Guillermo del Toro talks about Pacific Rim‘s comic book and he seems so giddy about it. I approve.

It doesn’t happen to me often, but Alex Ross sent the cover, and I called him up to give him one note.  I just wanted to give him one note.  And I swear to God, I’m 48, I’m this and that, I’m pretty good, and I got tongue-tied.  And he says, “Well, the way I was looking at it was this…” and I go, “Oh!  It’s perfect then!” [laughs] Completely wimped out, completely backed down, so it’s probably the only time it’s happened in, I don’t know, twenty years? Fifteen years? Whatever you say, Mr. Ross! [laughs]

He also wanted to buy the cover… but he will accept it as a gift too! So subtle, LOL!

Yay Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox‘s first image~

Yep, the storyline will be same of the comics. That is time travel and grittier version of known heroes.

Well, this is actually kinda awesome. Fede Alvarez talks about his experience from being a YouTube director to getting Sam Raimi to choose him to direct the new Evil Dead movie(s).

Now, instead of going to a film festival, people are putting stuff on YouTube. It sounds more magical, because you are in Uruguay and you put it online, and the next day you have hundreds of e-mails from Hollywood telling you they want to work with you.

On bad news… I usually don’t talk about deaths, but this one hit me hard. Rogert Ebert died. Here’s the first critic (outside the ones from my own country) I knew of and still the only one I bother to memorize their name. He will be missed, and so here’s a list of his most (recent) scathing reviews.

On Battlefield Earth: “Battlefield Earth is like taking a bus trip with someone who has needed a bath for a long time. It’s not merely bad; it’s unpleasant in a hostile way.”

  1. If I was Guillermo del Toro, I’d be geeking out about an Alex Ross comic book cover of one of my works too!
