The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Bombshell force!

FRIDAY

Box Office News! Avengers: Age of Ultron passed the $1 billion worldwide! As of right now, it’s Marvel’s third highest grossing film just behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3. It has also made over $330 million in the US of A, becoming the third film ever – aside from The Avengers and The Dark Knight – to pass the $300 million mark in 10 days. Make money, my darlings!

OK, it seems it’s down to two for the coveted role of Spider-Man: while Asa Butterfield seems to be the favourite, Marvel is also very fond of Tom Holland. I am not sure about either of them, but that’s just me and my bias against very young actors and wanting the very best for Peter Parker.

Disney is potentially planning Marvel and Star Wars TV channels to which I say… Is Disney also potentially planning to create lots and lots of related TV shows (live-action and animated both)? Otherwise, none of the franchises have enough material for a channel together, let alone on their own! Anyway, here’s what Disney CEO Bob Iger had to say:

We have said that with these channels and these brands — ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel — we do have an ability as a company to take product, specifically filmed entertainment, television, movies, directly to consumers.

Here’s the first look at the all-female team: A-Force. Rumor has it that they will become the main Avengers team in the Marvel Universe after all the Secret Wars crossover event is over and done with. I… wouldn’t mind.

But DC Comics also has awesome ladies together, and will debut a new series called Bombshells and looks awesome. Also, the variant covers promoting it are perfection. Bombshells chapters will be available digitally in July and in print August 12th. So, what’s about?

Retro-bombshell versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl in an alternate reality where super-powered female heroes are on the front lines in WWII.

OMG YES! A thousand times yes!

Lego Prince Taron Egerton talked about his Kingsman‘s experience and the possibility of a sequel. Possibility because Matthew Vaughn has yet to call him!

I have heard about the sequel rumors! It cropped up on the Internet. I’m told I’m the main character, but I haven’t heard anything yet. [Laughs] I’m really not surprised. I think there’s certainly more stories to tell. But I’m still waiting for Matthew Vaughn’s name to pop up on my phone and tell me he wants to do another film with me, which hasn’t happened just yet.

The title of the next Planet of the Apes movie has been revealed: War Of The Planet Of The Apes. Yep, seems that deleted ending scene of warships (which I guess are piloted by humans) appearing on the scene is totally coming true! Things are going to get ugly and intense in the film, and I once more I shiver with antici…pation!

Outlander‘s showrunner, Ron Moore, talked about the very shocking scenes to come for the season’s finale. And he eagerly awaits for the viewers’ reactions:

I’m certainly curious to see how it’s received. I know there will be a chunk of fans that are disappointed that there are elements from the book that were changed out of necessity, and you know, OK, that’s a different reaction. And then there’s going to be a big chunk of the audience that has no idea where this story is going and watches it cold, and I’m very curious about that reaction. Like what are they going to say? Did they have any clue? Is it shocking? Is it challenging? It’s a big question right now.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Rosario Dawson, Stephen Colbert, Iwan Rheon, George Lucas, Tim Roth and Cate Blanchett.
