The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Bombshell force!

WEDNESDAY

Here’s the first look of Supergirl! The new DC Comics TV series that I might have to watch! Yes, it’s cheesy and the music makes it look like it belongs in the Disney Channel. And yes, many have made the comparison with the Black Widow movie comedy sketch in SNL, but the joke there was not “being a girly girl is bad”. The joke was “Black Widow is not a girly girl and a movie about her shouldn’t be like that”. But Supergirl is not Black Widow, and she can totally be a girly girl. And look! She has friends and a support system! Good for her!

Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight talked about Daredevil Season 1. It’s a very spoilery interview, so if you have yet to finish the series, do that first, and then read this insightful interview. The non-spoilery part was about the possibility of Daredevil in MCU:

I would love to see that happen. I would be shocked if it happened in Civil War. I would love to see Daredevil pop up in some of these movies down the line. Obviously when you sign a contract with Marvel as an actor, you sign a multi-year contract for movies, television, everything, so I hope it happens.

You know how Fox wanted to to a X-Men spin-off about The New Mutants? It’s totally happening and they have found a director: Fault In Our Stars‘ Josh Boone! Yep, sorry Marvel, seeems like Fox won’t let the mutants go for a while.

OMG! How is it that I’ve just learnt that How to Talk to Girls at Parties is going to be turned into a movie! And Nicole Kidman will most likely be in that film! And Elle Fanning has been attached to the project for almost a year!? OK, let’s go back. How to Talk to Girls at Parties is part of Neil Gaiman’s short story collection, Fragile Things. And it’s freaking awesome. It’s about this guy who goes to this party filled with beautiful girls who act so alien. Also, the girls are actually aliens… The movie seems to use one of the girls’ POV though and that’s ok.

Alex Garland, who wrote 28 Days Later, talked about the possibility of a third movie. 28 Months Later, perhaps? Garland has been the concept for this movie, but that’s as far as his involvement goes.

I had a sort of weird idea that popped into my head. Partly because of a trip I’d taken. I had this thought, and I suggested it to Andrew [MacDonald, Producer] and Danny [Boyle, Director], but I also said I don’t want to work on it. I don’t really want to play a role, and Andrew said, ‘Leave it to me.’ So he’s gone off and is working on it.

THURSDAY

Here’s the first look of another DC Comics TV series: Legends of Tomorrow. It’s basically a spinoff of Arrow and The Flash. The full pilot ain’t filmed yet, so we have yet to know it all these footage will be in the show, but hey here are all the main players (including villain!) and the concept of the story!

TNT president Kevin Reilly said the Titans TV series could get started “maybe this summer” (of the North Hemisphere).

Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak unleashed a couple of new trailers, and here we have Tom Hiddleston talking about his role in said movie. And boy, is he an expert in talking a lot without spoiling much! Must be a mix of his own verbose nature and Marvel training at not spoiling stuff. It’s a very good skills to have in the business!

Here’s the gameplay trailer of LEGO Jurassic World… where you can totally play the four movies, and you can play as the dinosaur OMG I WANT IT! The game will be released on the same day as the movie: June 12.
