Amy’s Top50 Songs of 2012
20. Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas – Águila Amarilla [Xiami]
You can get their latest album, Chances, on iTunes.
19. Rudimental featuring John Newman & Alex Clare – Not Giving In
You can get Not Giving In on iTunes. [1]
18. Big Bang – Fantastic Baby [1]
17. G-Dragon – Crayon
The first time I listened to Crayon, the first thing that popped in my mind was “WTF is this amazingness?” If I had to compare this to food [1], I would probably say this is a very American hamburger splashed with the right amount of Kimchi and a handsome portion of Korean Pickled Squid (Ojinguh Jut) on top.
You can get G-Dragon’s mini-album, One of a Kind, on iTunes.
16. Crowd Lu – Bian Dang (一個便當)
Ever since first listening to Crowd Lu singing “Uno, dos, tres, cuatro. Hao bu hao, hao bu hao, hao bu hao” on his simply titled I Love You (我愛你) [MV], I’ve been fascinated with the reason why Crowd uses random Spanish in his song. In Bian Dang, which is the name they give to lunch boxes or bento boxes in Mandarin (I learned that on my trip xD), he goes there several times dropping “buenos días” to all the “señoritas” and gives us a Spanish/Mandarin lesson with:
Rosas meigui, Perro gou gou, Ai shi Amor.
All that while including his now-famous Vitas Lu high note [1]. Its Guitar album companion track O La La Hu Hu [MV] gave this one a VERY good run for its money, but I ultimately fell for how fun this song is. iTunes.
whoa you listened to a lot of music! Really liking the cumbia tracks.
@Diandra Rodriguez, I know! And somehow it still feels like it’s not enough xD Anyway, let me know what you think of some of the other tracks :)
@amy, yeah, sometimes you find a lot of the best stuff from one year in the next! I’m going to have to check out more stuff by Clover.
@Diandra Rodriguez, Clover has a couple of songs only… that I know of. La Vida Loca is all sorts of fun xD
is there a playlist?
@GIACOMO, there isn’t… unless you count my iPod, since there’s no single place that has all the songs (in complete form). But I could try to put something together on YouTube
Marina & The Diamonds, Mika Nakashima, Fiona Apple, B.A.P, Kaela Kimura, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent, Big Bang, G-Dragon, Sa Ding Ding, Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchstra, Singer Sen, Ga In, Imogen Heap, Meisa Kuroki, Sunny Hill, holy crap – Faye Wong, too!?? (she’s my fave chinese singer, followed by Sa Ding Ding, Singer Sen and Shang Wenjie tying for 2nd place) – you did it again! We’re like music twins! :)
@Eri, Oh you should def. check out track 28 on the list. I think you’ll love Hamacide’s track with ChaCha. And we do seem like music twins! xD
