The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Treasures of Marvel~

TUESDAY

Happy Birthday to another Tolkien alumni, Jed Brophy!

Tom Hiddleston talks about what Marvel movie he’s most looking forward to. I wouldn’t say it’s the one I am most looking forward to. But it is surely the one that intrigues me more.

I can’t wait for Guardians [Of The Galaxy]. I think it’s going to be amazing. Bonkers. I think the cast is fantastic, I hear that James Gunn has brought a lot of his own personality to it in the same way that Joss did with The Avengers and that can only be a good thing. I’m all in favour of a bit of bonkers. I actually think that audiences love it in a way. Pure escapism.

Also, MCU Big Boss talks about what Joss Whedon helped with in Thor: The Dark World, and what Loki scenes where added… they were totally inspired by the tie-in comic and Tom Hiddleston was all “told you so”. I’ll just leave you the link, because the answers are sorta spoilery~ All I know is, hah! Tom sure knows his character well!

We finally got a first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it had two pieces of lovely music on it! And here’s “10 Things to Takeaway” from the trailer. Yup, you know we nerds overthing stuff! But hey, at least Bryan Singer is also there giving us stuff to overthink about! Here he is talking about our small glimpse at Halle Berry’s Storm:

She’s one of the last surviving X-Men in this post-apocalyptic world. She’s part of that with Wolverine and Charles and Magneto, they’re some of the last folk standing from the original X-Men. They’re at the spearhead of this mission, this last chance at saving the world. This is their only hope, their mission into time.

On the DC side of things, here’s the trailer of Justice League: War, based on New 52 graphic novel Justice League: Origin. The release date is February 4th, 2014.

WEDNESDAY

It’s been confirmed! Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron! I guess he will totally be Elizabeth Olsen’s brother in the movie then~

And because they keep talking about the trailer of X-Men: Days of Future Past, here’s a Empire feature about the new mutants seen on the trailer: Bishop, Sunspot, Warpath and Blink. Well, they surely are a racially diverse group! Also, Bryan Singer talked with MTV about them, amongst other things:

They’re part of a younger group of surviving refugees in the future that have been living moment to moment just trying to stay alive, so we find them confronted with the members of the original, few-remaining X-Men, who basically ask them help them with this plan. They’re skeptical, but they also realize that there’s no other choice.

The new couch gag from The Simpsons pays homage to The Hobbit… and it is lovely! Also, this episode, “Four Regrettings and a Funeral”, is the one where a character dies.

Sorta related since he is in The Hobbit, Benedict Cumberbatch is not only acting in the crowd funded short film Little Favour, he’s actually part of the launching the production company called SunnyMarch. And they sure want to do more stuff! Well, if it includes Benedict, I will certainly watch the movies~

We’re at an exciting juncture. We’ve made our first effort as a team and we’re aiming to make a concrete statement in the next few months about what we’re going to do next. We want a varied slate. There will be a feature to announce in the next few months. We have scripts in development and books that we’re looking to option.

  1. I wish the Expendabelles had a different title. And Jovovich is fine, but sheesh, there are so many other action ladies they could get. I think they already have Katee Sackoff and Gina Carano? This says they’re in a different Expendables movie?

“Now we are in search of a female director.”

wait wait Michelle Rodriguez said she didn’t have enough action experience?

Or something because The Expendables franchise is about older action stars in the late end of their careers

Sigourney Weaver would be good. Also Michelle Yeoh,, Zoe Bell, Lucy Lawless, Gina Torres. I see Helen Mirren as more of an action actress than Meryl, even if Meryl can do anything. Wonder if they could somehow get Pam Grier or even Grace Jones or ok I better stop now or I won’t get anything else done.

I’d really like Jeeja Yanin (from Chocolate and other Thai action movies) to appear in an American action movie, though.

@Diandra Rodriguez, Yep, apparently we have Two female Expendables movie. I don’t know what happened there xD

@Diandra Rodriguez, wasn’t the point of “expendable” that you gotta be kinda an old school action star? Sackhoff and Carano are forging themselves as action stars still. I’ll pick Lucy Liu (over Cameron Diaz), and include Michelle Yeoh, Lucy Lawless and Grace Jones xD and Linda Hamilton with a dash of Sigourney Weaver.
