The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Habemus Doctor

WEDNESDAY

Thor: The Dark World‘s new trailer is here! And here’s the trailer breakdown, courtesy of Empire! Producer Craig Kyle shows how evil he is, perfectly understanding how “feels” work~

I think we’ve found a really wonderful balance where people will be laughing and enjoying themselves — and then they’ll be worried and rightfully so. Tonally, the more humour and fun naturally woven into the script, the more the loss and suffering and sadness and frightening elements just rise.

And here are some hi-res trailer screengrabs!

Cobie Smulders talks about her participation in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I was so excited to work with Joss again and to meet his brother, Jed, and his wife, Maurissa, and get to hang out with them again. They’re all geniuses. Joss sent me my scenes and it was so great to see this character interacting in a different way and to basically get to tell the world that Coulson is ‘alive’ and back with a TV show where you can watch him every week. I was excited about that more than anything.

Jeff Wadlow, writer-director of Kick-Ass 2, talks about how he’s working on the script of a possible X-Force movie for Fox. Who knows, maybe he’ll end up directing it too!

When Mark [Millar] got the job with Fox I said “The first movie you guys should make is an X-Force movie and here’s how you should do it.” And that got him excited, and that got the studio excited and that’s the movie I’m writing.

A couple of Bat-related rumors come from ThinkMcflyThink. First one is, we might have a new contender for the Batman role in the Batman/Superman movie, and it’s none other than Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whom Zack Snyder already directed in Watchmen. The other rumor is that we might get a Gotham PD TV series.

[It] would essentially take place between the aftermath of The Dark Knight and before the return of Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. The story would involve the pressure on Gotham’s finest to take control of the city during Batman’s hiatus from crime fighting.

And now that we are onto the topic, here’s a huge article that talks about why Marvel Cinematic Universe rules, and DC Cinematic Universe drools~ TL;DR? Disney/Marvel have a plan! Warner / DC not so much yet.

On the comic side of things, here’s the trailer of Avengers: Endless Wartime, a Marvel original graphic novel. It’s from Warren Ellis, so why not. I do see one pose worthy of The Hawkeye Initiative though!

Because we geeks won’t ever let go of Pacific Rim, here are some ideas for spin-off movies! They include two types of sequels, a prequel, a character study and a genre bender. I could watch any of those. But I could also live with what we already got.

It’s been a while since I posted a list so here: 20 sci-fi moments that will make you cry. I admit to have cried at 13 of these. Kudos to whoever can guess them all! Also, some people should know the difference between sci-fi and fantasy though! Yes, yes, they explain in the article. That’s still a misleading title!

Talking about fantasy that’s totally not sci-fi, a German magazine spoils some tibits ot The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, but nothing big if you already read the books and have been obsessively following the news like me… so yeah, you’ll probably get spoiled.

Yeah, so the reason Bruce Willis is not on The Expendables 3? He wanted to get paid $1 million a day. Sly et al were “lol no”. I do love this delicious shade coming from “the insider”:

I think [Willis] was pretty surprised he was replaced in 72 hours by Harrison Ford — a better actor, a much nicer person and a more interesting direction for the film.

Finally, here are three clips from Ridley Scott’s The Counselor with Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Brad Pitt and my lovely shark Michael Fassbender. Here’s one with Bad Hair Bardem:
