Gustavo Cerati crossed the “Puente” of Death with Joan Rivers

Such an unlikely death pairing we got today.

I originally wanted to write a post only about ex-Soda Stereo frontman Gustavo Cerati today, but then I also read about Joan Rivers passing away today and somehow I couldn’t ignore her death. Hopefully, we don’t get a death trilogy of sorts right now, even if the day’s not over yet. My mind somehow wondered about a death trilogy directed by Iñárritu, who has already done his own “death trilogy” with Amores Perros, 21 Grams — as criminal as it is to admit this, I just saw this recently and I can vouch for his entire death trilogy to be rated overall at least above the 4-star rating — and Babel.

As far as Rivers is concerned, I knew her first through several Red Carpet events that she hosted during the past decade. Honestly, I didn’t care much for her back then. However, the 2010 documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work showcases her in a different (and interesting) light. I had no idea she was a comedian back in her prime. The fact that she has filed and stored all the gags and jokes she’s written and performed over the years tells something about how professional she was.

By the way, her guest star appearance on Louie Season 2 was great to watch. Now, people are already saying/joking there’s a pending Louie death trilogy in the works with Rivers and Robin Williams, who guested on Season 3 and passed away not much ago. Laughter is medicine, as it is said.

Hell, you can even toss a Plants VS Zombies joke between her and Cerati, if you know what I mean.

I believe a death trilogy is complete with Donatas Banionis dying today.

@Rodrigo, the most random combination of people. Though when Michael Jackson passed away, the whole Abencia Meza and Alicia Delgado murder case happened, and then Farrah Fawcett. So there you go.

@amy, I almost forgot about Alicia Delgado’s death. Farrah died first, but I can’t remember who followed after her. That day when MJ died, I found out about it through radio at the hospital. But the Delgado news I knew it late at night at home.

As for the Louie trilogy, some people were hoping for Dane Cook (Season 2 guest star) to die. LOL. He’d fit in with Williams and Rivers since he’s a comedian, but someone like Ricky Gervais (Season 1 guest) would fit too and he’s more iconic than Cook. Imagine if it was Jeremy Renner (Season 4 guest star) instead.

@Rodrigo, a girl from a Kpop group also died in a car accident a couple of days back. So we got kinda like a complete package: suicide (williams), natural death (bacall, garner, attenborough, banionis), medical death (rivers), after long coma (cerati), accident (eunB).

          No murders, yet, recently, no?
