The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Weekly comics on your TV!

THURSDAY

OMG! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a second season! And while’s great since the show has been progresively better lately, the best part is… We are freaking getting Agent Carter on ABC as a mid-season series until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is back on the TV. So, we are getting short series of aproximately 12 episodes long. But it means more focusing and less filler so yay!

Also, The Flash and iZombie have now been officially picked up by The CW! Yep, The Flash comes as a Green Arrow spin-off but I imagine it will need to have a bigger budget for the titular character’s power I guess. And then we have iZombie, which is, as its name suggest, a zombie story. Only this time we get a girl who must eat brains to keep her humanity and in the process gets access to the memories of the corpse’s memories. Yep, it’s pretty weird but awesome!

And in the last comicbook adaptation for TV, we have OMG Constantine! Yep, based on the Hellblazer comic and already looks more faithful to the source than the Keanu Reeves movie. Not that I hated that movie… it just wasn’t Hellblazer.

Here’s a nice long interview with Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller, and the final scene of the series has already been decided… I would be Bruce Wayne putting on the Batman cowl.

Yes, whether metaphorically or literally — something like that. But that’s six or seven years down the line. Hopefully.

Remember last week when I told you about Marvel’s “Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N” (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) exhibit in NY? Because habemus concept art and it looks pretty awesome! I don’t care if it’s obviously S.H.I.E.L.D. desperate move to recruit new agents since the disbandment because they have been infected by Hydra all along!

So, we will get Cyclops, Jean Gray and Storm for X-Men: Apocalypse? Yep, and they will probably be recast. Also, the first reactions of X-Men: Days of Future Past are awesome. It was “Avengers with Mutants”, as good as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Quicksilver was brief and not sucky at all!

FRIDAY

On the last awesome news about TV series, Hannibal gets renewed for a third season. Wow, that’s a first for Bryan Fuller! Gets the fannibals were more than I expected even for the not-that-great ratings!

DC is totally getting ready with their new TV series, and already they have been given us the first official poster of Gotham, and the poster banners for The Flash and iZombie. Yep, all those known clasic villains in their years before Batman look pretty cool. Also, hi, little Bruce Wayne and Alfred!

On more surprising news, Reg E. Cathey is now Dr. Storm, the scientist father of Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan) and Sue Storm (Kate Mara) in the Fantastic Four reboot. I guess if we get a white actress for Ms. Storm, we will get a biracial family! Yep, new Fantastic Four is totally based on the Ultimates version, where they are all young and Dr. Storm is their mentor.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Christina Hendricks (3), Rebecca Hall (3), Henry Cavill (5), John Rhys-Davies (5), Lars Mikkelsen (6), Gabourey Sidibe (6), Alexander Ludwig (7)  and Rosario Dawson (9).

Also, Happy Mother’s Day for all those who celebrate this Sunday!
