The Little Prince (2015) Japanese Teaser

I went on a quick Google search, but didn’t find a French or English version of the teaser, so I said “Why not post this Japanese version that just popped up?” I did a double-check just to see that it wasn’t a Japanese re-adaptation that was going on alongside the new French animated version, just in case.

Though people have their reservations on why the 1943 story of The Little Prince, that made Antoine de Saint-Exupéry quite famous, shouldn’t be taken to screen with song and dancing (a la Disney), I’m interested in French animation, which for the past couple of years has been really REALLY interesting visually. Even the student animated shorts from Gobelins l’École de l’Image are pretty awesome.

Visually, this French animated adaptation looks promising [in the blink and you’ll miss it frame]. Plus, the original voice cast includes Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, Jeff Bridges, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks and James Franco- I just hope a LOT of the budget went to the animators, because you know they deserve it.

The script was developed by Irena Brignull, who is also involved with the script in The Boxtrolls [1][2].

The Japanese dub is never a loss, though. Them Japanese super-dubs are usually something. This one is called Little Prince Hoshi no Ojisama to Watashi (リトルプリンス 星の王子さまと私), Star Prince and Me, which is the Japanese name they gave to The Little Prince xD

The Little Prince will be out some time next year.
