Jay-Z & Kanye West – Otis

Here’s the music video for Otis, easily one of the best tracks from Watch The Throne. Check it out.

Directed by Spike Jonze (Scenes From The Suburbs), the video basically shows Kanye West and Jay-Z driving a radically chopped Mercedes-Benz Maybach that has no doors or windows, but it has the ability to spit fire. You can see four girls smiling in the backseat. The cover art for Otis [see: USA flag] was designed by Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci — who also designed the album cover for Watch The Throne — and it can be seen in the video. There’s a cameo from Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) in the video.

By the way, the duo announced that they would be auctioning off the pimped-out luxury car and donating the proceeds to aid in the response to the drought and famine in East Africa.

I like the beat, but I don’t like the song xD
Luxury packaged as charity, I guess…

Spike Jonze can do more, I’m sure…

And people complain that when Jay or Leehom rap, they’re not really rapping because Chinese rappers “don’t get it”. Just because Jay raps about listening to his mom, doesn’t make it less rapping than talking about bitches and hos.

@ghost, but… they’re not talking about bitches and hos – are they? *googles lyrics* – ok, yeah. LOL maybe they are.

Maybe none of them should rap, even if they sound good. Btw, I heard Kanye lived in China, so he should know Chinese xD maybe he should have a change of pace.

Whatever happened to social rap, you know – the one that talk about society and heavy stuff xD instead of complaining about having too much money and too many women.

@amy, Complaining about money and women? More like bragging about it.

@amy, There are actually a lot of rappers talking about social issues and heavy stuff. OFWGKTA for example touch on really dark themes like rape, death and what not. I suggest you listen to Goblin by Tyler The Creator, some songs on it are fucking brilliant. And MellowHype’s BLACKENEDWHITE.

The bigger names are also talking about stuff other than hoes and bitches. Nas’ collaboration album with Damian Marley, My Generation? Africa Must Wake Up? Lupe Fiasco’s Words I Never Said? Mos Def’s Wahid?

Just to name a few examples
