Babymetal – Iine! Live in Tokyo 2012

For the past few months I had followed Toy’s Factory’s BABYMETAL uploads ever since… I think Julyssa forwarded me a link. There was something terribly new about listening to the accustomed electro Jpop layered on top of some pretty heavy metal sung by girls. GIRLS. Not women who act like girls, but girls.

BABYMETAL is formed by Su-METAL (Vocal, Dance), YuiMETAL (Scream, Dance), MoaMETAL (Scream, Dance), who were put together in the theme of Kawaii METAL… in a mix of Jpop idol and Heavy Metal, releasing a video in 2010. Apparently the popularity of the group online is so much on behalf of foreigners (like all of us), that content in the Toy’s Factory description box is first in English, with Japanese as a secondary option. Well, that’s a first, I like that. LOL

Then again, I thought BABYMETAL would be marketed towards… a younger audience, so you can imagine my surprise watching this live version of Iine! (いいね!) — which can be roughly translated in so many phrases, including, “it’s good, isn’t it?” — and realizing those singing along to those girls, jumping around, and bobbing their heads up and down are… grown men.

I don’t know if that bothers me… completely, but it’s fascinating to see. Also, BABYMETAL is not half bad.

@Julyssa, LOL. Yeah, they did a sorta rap breakdown before the screamo part, and then going Jpop again. hahaha.

Then if you didn’t send me the link, it must’ve been my dad because you two are the only ones that send me links to watch hahahaha.
