Ten Notable Animated Shorts Between 2000-2009

2008 – La Maison en Petits Cubes (つみきのいえ)

Another winner of the Academy Award. We’ve talked about Tsumiki no Ie before.

2009 – Logorama

Another winner of the Academy Award, and possibly the most popular of all the ones listed. The short by François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy, and Ludovic Houplain was pretty popular when it hit the net for its use of popular brands, action and… perhaps a bit of a potty-mouth. A lot of people loved it for the excitement, others hated it — one thing is certain, Logorama is hard to miss.

Are you familiar with Don Hertzfeldt’s amazing “Everything will be Okay?” He’s probably the only animator who deserves more than one spot on this list, and I’d have given that short a nod as well. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IUX0Qy-IDM

@jennifer, it felt unfair to add more than one Don Hertzfeldt’s short… or a Koji Yamamura one. But yeah, I’ve seen Everything will be okay, Lily and Jim, and The meaning of life.

Damn, Harvey Krumpet. I saw that in an Animation Festival… and oh boy was that awesome/depressive… also the little song of “God is better than futbol, God is better than beer” stayed with me for some time… of course the impact of it all was taken from me because I was distracted by Geoffrey Rush’ sexy sexy voice doing the narration :P

That said… I freaking love the Danish Poet and Logorama :D

@Mirella, Harvey Krumpet has been playing on and off on iSat xD just… FYI. Did you get to see Mary and Max?

      • Mirella says:

@amy, Oh I have noticed! I just catched on iSat some time ago even if it was almost ending :P
And I did watch Mary and Max :D
