The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Take the good with the bad

TUESDAY

They have already started the speculation about what “The Dark World” in the Thor sequel means… I guess we can wonder about it, since the other movie with a longer name is Captain America: Winter Soldier, and that is quite straightforward for anyone with knowledge about Captain America’s comics. (Spoilers: The Winter Soldier is Bucky). Also, since Thor: The Dark World is the first movie of “Phase 2”, people are already putting together all they know about it from interviews and stuff.

And Marvel keeps delivering those spiffy video games. This time, courtesy of Ubisoft, we have Marvel: Avengers: Battle for Earth. In the new cinematic trailer seen at Comic-Con, we can see our heroes battling Dr. Doom, Super-Skrull and what seems to be a Skrull invasion!

Now for something curious and well done. Remember Thomas Jane? He was the star in The Punisher movie from 2004. Well, he debuted a Punisher short film at Comic-Con, which also features Ron Pearlman. It is very awesome:

On the DC Comics side of news, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson playing Lobo is a possibility, according to The Rock himself! I kinda wish he played Black Adam for his physical similarities, but Lobo is cool bastard, so it’s fine.

Also, potential Hellboy 3? Why are you playing with my feelings, Guillermo del Toro? And it apparently is totally the fault of Ron Perlman being cute and nice with little Hellboy fans.

Now, one thing that will definitely get a sequel is Finding Nemo. It’s not enough you are re-releasing the movie in 3D, Pixar? Ok, I like Finding Nemo, so it’s fine. But if you’re gonna make more sequels, I’d rather have one for The Incredibles. Superhero movies are easier to make and entertaining… what’s Finding Nemo 2 gonna be about? The kid cannot be lost twice… can he?

Anyway, then there was the new Gangster Squad banner. It’s so beautiful I just can’t [1]:

I love vintage crime movies, ok? And this looks like it will do just fine.

Finally, a piece of news that made me hyperventilate: Princess Mononoke gets a stage play in London, and it has potentional to be freaking awesome or totally crappy and everything in between. And damn, I wanna watch it!

I’m still a little bit sour grapes about Pixar announcing sequels to Nemo, Monsters INC. and Toy Story 4. Like, MAD. For Toy Story 4, specifically.

  2. you just reminded me of how fannish I got over the Winter Soldier announcement
    I got teary-eyed!
and if Anthony Mackie agrees to play Falcon and SHIELD does play a larger role in this sequel, then he and Jeremy Renner can be Hurt Locker birdbros
