The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Hello Childhood, my old friend

TUESDAY

Happy Birthday to Colin Firth, and Happy 20th Anniversary to X-Files! Here’s a message from Gillian Anderson to the fandom~

There wasn’t many news today, except for the fact that Sigur Ros will be in Games of Thrones season 4. What are they going to do? Beats me!

And then Twitter revealed a couple of interesting names! That is the name of the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who, and the name of the new Jurassic Park movie! The first one is called “The Day of the Doctor” and will premiere on BBCOne on November 23rd. The second one is Jurassic World, will be 3D a will premiere on June 12, 2015!

While I am giddy for Doctor Who, to have definite news about the new Jurassic Park film leaves me in a state of geeky glee. Just watching that movie again on the big screen again was enough to give me a serious case of feels, but to watch another one? Yes, please! It’s a two year wait, but I will manage!

WEDNESDAY

The day started with many articles about Benedict Cumberbatch… OK, three articles. One about his three TIFF performances, as “antihero” Julian Assange in The Fifth State, “decent” slave owner William Ford in 12 Years a Slave, and poor baby “Little” Charles Aiken in August: Osage County. I’m kinda interested in that last performance because it’s the one I know the least, thankfully, the second article talked more about that role (yeah, I know, I could have googled the play, but who has time! LOL)

I play Little Charles, who’s this adorable, really lost soul who’s trying to find a place in a world that cuts him out. He’s in love with someone who’s very close to him, but it has to remain a secret and it kind of tears him apart. He’s constantly belittled by a destructively loving and protective mother because of a secret surrounding who he really is. He’s a pretty tragic figure but rather a beautiful soul. He’s an alright singer and songwriter too. I do sing and play the piano in it.

And last article was one from The Hollywood Reporter itself! Sadly the interviewer was channeling Rita Skeeter or something, and Benedict was clearly on the defensive during parts of the article. We did get pretty pictures though, so that’s a plus!

On other interviews done to my favourite actors, here’s one with Mads Mikkelsen who talks a bit about Skyfall… as a Bond villain~

I thought Skyfall was great, I loved watching it and think Javier Bardem and me should hook up and finish him off once and for all – we were so close to killing him! Together we can do big things.

Did you know Hugh Jackman was very close to appear on Spider-Man? So what happened? They couldn’t freaking find the goddamn suit!

In the first Spider-Man – Kevin Feige reminded me of this – we really tried to get me to come on and do something, whether it was a gag or just to walk through the shot or something. The problem was, we couldn’t find the suit. The suit was stuck in some thing. And so when they were in New York when I was there, we couldn’t get it together.

Guillermo del Toro and Penguin Classics joined forces produce a set of his favorite horror stories. That’s actually very awesome. They are The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, The Thing on the Doorstep and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft, The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, Haunted Castles by Ray Russell, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and American Supernatural Tales with stories by Stephen King and others. Here are the covers:
