Green Day – Oh Love (NSFW)

I love Green Day — seeing them live was awesome — and I was looking forward to seeing the music video for Oh Love, the first single of their upcoming album ¡Uno!. I was aware that the video was released this past Wednesday via MTV, but I had to wait for it to be uploaded on YouTube because MTV’s official website — where the video’s premiere took place — restricts people who don’t live in the States from watching exclusive videos such as this one.

So just now, Green Day officially uploads the NSFW video — boobs are involved, albeit censored — for Oh Love on YouTube and it’s not that big of a deal, both song and video. The band plays along to tattooed models who seem bored out of their minds while Green Day is playing in front of them… until the drums kicks in and they start to get drunk, stoned and naked near the end of the video.

You can watch the lyrics video for Oh Love here.

The video was directed by Samuel Bayer, who previously worked with the band on the music videos for the rock opera album American Idiot. Bayer is currently working with the band on the video for Kill the DJ [MV], the second single from ¡Uno!. However, my favorite track from the new album is Let Yourself Go [MV].

¡Uno! is Green Day’s ninth studio album and it is part of the ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! trilogy. The first album will be released on September 25, 2012. ¡Dos! is scheduled for a November 13 release, while ¡Tré! will be released on January 15, 2013.

The song is kinda meh. When did Green Day began writing LOVE type of songs? xD Having said that, I like the three-part idea album. Is it like 3 full-length albums or like 5/6 track albums divided in three albums, though?

Thinking back on their videography, there’s never actually been a Green Day music video that I’ve liked or think it’s memorable. Like… you can say, you know RHCP were a video game in Californication haha, but Green Day?

@amy, Didn’t they had a couple of love songs in 21CB? I might revist that album.

      It’s 3 full-length albums that won’t be political-driven like the last 3.

Regarding their videography, the ones I can remember from the top of my head are Basket Case, Hitching a Ride, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Jesus of Suburbia and Walking Contradiction. Yeah, Green Day wasn’t a band known for putting out memorable videos. But with today’s world, having a music video is almost obligatory [see: pop stars]. The video thing is another story…

@Rodrigo, but there are groups – outside pop music – that do have memorable music videos. I mean game graphics used to be shit, so Californication looks a little bit like crap, but that’s the style and it’s a memorable video. LOL

I guess rock music… I can’t think of any memorable music video at the top of my head hahaha maybe i need to research.

The ones that are doing all the good-looking mvs (outside Kpop) are the indie artist or electronic music artists. Think Bjork, 85% of her videography is memorable. LOL

Oh, this just came: The White Stripes xD and Franz Ferdinand. I’ll look into it.
