The first trailer for Ben Affleck’s third directed film, Argo, has gone online.

Based on a true story, the film centers on a CIA agent (Affleck) who attempts to rescue six Americans trapped in the home of the Canadian embassador during the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

Argo also stars Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Kyle Chandler, Victor Garber, Clea DuVall, Michael Parks and Alan Arkin. George Clooney serves as one of the film’s producers while Alexandre Desplat is in charge of the music.

The film premiers on October 12, 2012.
