Hidden Figures Trailer

The first trailer for Hidden Figures by Theodore Melfi (St. Vincent) is out. The film, based on the book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly, follows the life of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), a real life African-American physicist, space scientist and mathematician, who contributed to the United States’ aeronautics and space programs at NASA. She calculated flight trajectories for Project Mercury and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the moon.

It also follows Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer), the African-American mathematician who worked at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae), all of whom helped NASA catch up with the Space Race.

The film also stars Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons.

Hidden Figures is set for a January 13, 2017, release… which is not a prime date for Oscar-bait, so stop calling it that.
