The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Mads stranding!
Behold Lightning McQueen’s magnificent crash in all its glory in the new Cars 3 poster~ We are still promised that everything will change.
Felicity Jones described her Rogue One character, Jyn Erso, as a blend of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo:
A rather beautiful blend of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The opportunity to play someone determined, who’s trying to find her skills as a leader, to be in a fantasy movie, to be able to do a leading female role in a film of that scale – that’s very, very rare.
Anne Rice talked witth Entertaiment Weekly about her new Vampire Chronicles TV series and revealed her casting desires for the main characters. Basically, she would love if Matthew MacFadyen (whom she loved in Ripper Street)wanted to play Marius, she would hope “a beautiful actor like Matt Bomer” played Louis, and she would think it be very nice to have an actor that truly does fit the Lestat profile (who’s actually six feet tall unlike dear Tom Cruise), but she doesn’t have anyone in particular in mind and is sure there will be any trouble finding an actor for the part.
From hypothetical to actual casting, Star Trek: Discovery has new members besides Michelle Yeoh! Anthony Rapp will play Lt. Stamets, an “astromycologist, fungus expert and Starfleet science officer on the starship Discovery”, and he’s totally the gay character Bryan Fuller promised us. Doug Jones will play Lt Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer, and a member of an alien species new to the Star Trek universe. As for Michelle Yeoh, she will Captain Georgiou, of the starship Shenzou, confirming that she will neither be the main character as previously hoped, or even the Captain of the Discovery. Dammit. The TV series is set about a decade before the original series.
Behold this abomination, this freak of nature, this remade devilry! Yep, here’s how Bill Hader’s Alpha 5 looks as per this new Power Rangers concept art. Damn, now I am kinda afraid of knowing how Bryan Cranston’s Zordon will look!
In box office news, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has already earned $500 million worldwide! OK, that’s not bad at all, but it’s kinda paltry compared to the huge $1.34 billion made by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Still, not bad, Warner!
If one where to use pre-ticket sales for box office analysis purposes, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would be a total success already. Yep, in the first 24 hours of sales, Rogue One became the top seller in a first day of any film in 2016 in the US. Yep, it has passed up Suicide Squad, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, and Finding Dory, amongst the other box office hits in 2016. BTW, here’s a lovely hi-res gallery with some never before seen shots~ Here’s one with some bad guys, officers and deathtroopers, because I still think they are the better dressed.
