Amy’s Ten Highlights of 2011 Movie Posters

5. Battle: Los Angeles

I don’t care how bad the movie was. This poster set is good, okay? [1]

4. Bill Cunningham New York

This poster shows exactly what this documentary is about. It’s a perfect poster, it’s not trying hard… it just is. [1]

First, you ask yourself who Bill Cunningham is, he’s there! In the bigger photo — so Bill is an old guy who rides a bike and takes photos… in New York. And look! All these candid fashionable photos and the movie critic quote, the awards… and the perfect Anna Wintour quote: “We all get dressed for Bill.

It’s perfect.

I liked the Rum Poster too!

    My personal faves are:
    Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Reminded me of the opening (credit scene).
I like the typeface created for the movie. What I like about the poster is that it keeps you looking.
    Hunger Games, simple & awesome
Dunno if it counts because the movie is not out yet. But the poster definitely TEASES us.
    Jane Eyre
    Tree of Life (so cute!)

@Margarita, I was gonna add the Dragon Tattoo one but I thought it’d be a boring list. xD Jane Eyre is out, just so you know… (it says so in the poster too, March 2011) and it is beautiful but there were so many posters with big type recently.

Btw, if you like the poster for Jane Eyre, the film is as beautiful looking xD

  2. Fantastic choices! Some I haven’t seen before, although I’ve liked the Pooh one since I first saw it many months ago.

@Diandra Rodriguez, I know! Pooh is a love at first sight thing, though I’m thinking it’s part of the nostalgia “our” generation is feeling… I guess.

Besides Pooh, I think Harry Potter is the only poster that was brave enough not to use the title of the film – though I can be wrong. At least I remember HP7.1 having the HP all cropped and barely on the posters…

I love the Winnie the Pooh one. I also love the Centipede one. I had never it before; it is just brilliant.
Isn’t Uncle Boonmee from 2010 though?
A poster that I really like even if I haven’t seen the movie is Restless’s. I like the color tones and contrast with the red scarf. Just looking at it makes me feel like I’m about to fly to the sky like a ballon. I don’t think the movie is that lighthearted though.

@Echydo, I’m not sure if Boonmee is 2010 but the IMP Awards site lists it as 2011… and doesn’t list Jane Eyre at all, so there you go.

I remember the poster for Restless, I posted it on the January batch and I had that same feeling as you xD I didn’t enjoy the movie much, though… even if I do love Ryo Kase in it – I think he was my favorite part of the film, but then again- I may be being biased there. LOL

Amy, you inspired me to start a new tumblr page! I just hope I’ll have the time and discipline to keep track of poster releases *_* . In any case, there may be some other posters that you would like. Here it is: A l’Affiche
