A Better Life Trailer

Carlos Galindo (Demián Bichir) doesn’t ask much from life, just to keep tending the yards of L.A.’s wealthy and to give his estranged son Luis (Jose Julian) a better life than he had. But when a business opportunity that would have allowed him to take control of his destiny is stolen from under his nose, his life is thrown into chaos.

A Better Life is directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy) — because he would like us to forget New Moon.

The film is set to open in the US on June 24 — probably in a limited run in New York and LA.

Is it weird that I totally hate the idea of this movie? I feel like it’s taking way too much advantage of the traditional Mexican stereotype, and I’m somewhat offended.

@Juan Barquin, I guess you are right… it is pointing out that “Mexican gardener” stereotype, but it also gives it a human look, especially from the migrant point of view. I do connect with that bit about a parent working so his child could become something else, it’s a common thing and it could ring true for other migrants.
