The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Godfather of the Dead

FRIDAY

Nickelodeon kickstarted my nostalgia at SDCC with a couple of TV movies based on two of their most iconic nicktoons! And the animation design looks basically the same, except slicker? Is that the world? Anyway, here are the trailers for Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling and Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie!

Here’s the SDCC trailer for Vikings Season 5! It will have a two-hour season 5 premiere on November 29!

Season five begins with Ivar the Boneless asserting his leadership over the Great Heathen Army, while Lagertha reigns as Queen of Kattegat. Ivar’s murder of his brother Sigurd sets the stage for vicious battles to come as Ragnar’s sons plot their next moves after avenging their father’s death. Bjorn follows his destiny into the Mediterranean Sea and Floki who is suffering from the loss of his wife Helga, takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods. This season is full of startling alliances and unbelievable betrayals as the Vikings fight to rule the world.

Here’s the extended SDCC trailer for The Gifted with lots of action-packed new footage. And that X-Men connection? They sure get name-dropped, despite being said in the panel that the series exists in its own separate universe.

Here’s The Defenders‘ new trailer and it looks great! Even Iron Fist seems OK? The episodes will premiere this August 18, on Netflix.

Here’s the SDCC trailer for Marvel’s Inhumans… and damn Medusa’s hair animation is kinda tragic. But this trailer is indeed better than the first one. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb revealed that ABC’s broadcast-exclusive version of the Inhumans’ pilot would contain additional scenes not shown in theatres. So yeah, they want us to watch it twice. Huh. Don’t know about that strategy when the product doesn’t look that good, dude.

So, what did we learn at the SDCC panel of Young Justice: Outsiders, a.k.a. season 3? Well, among other things, that it will consist of 26 episodes in total, “but the last few have not been written yet”. The show will have “more adult themes and more sophisticated and challenging stories” since it isn’t on a kids channel anymore. And here’s the first official artwork from the show, and you can check from left to right we have: Static, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal and Beast Boy.

Those Joss Whedon’s Justice League reshoots? Far more significant than initially reported! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon is actually doing what they describe as “extensive reshoots”. Just like Fantastic Four and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And of those choices, there’ only one Justice League wants to be like~

Warner Bros. is developingHarley Quinn Vs. Joker film. And yes, it is a spin-off from Suicide Squad, so expect Jared Leto and Margot Robbie to reprise their roles. Geoff Johns is set to produce.

Noah Hawley, not happy with Marvel/FX Legion being his only comicbook adapted work, has revealed in SDCC that he has designs on Doctor Doom! Not much was said, but considering his body of work (we are talking about the Fargo TV series here), I think he could do a good job. Poor Doctor Doom. He’s one of the best Marvel villains and he has done dirty in both Fantastic Four films, always fucking up his origin story, and not giving him proper respect.

Let’s end with a crossover! Yep, The Kingsman: The Golden Circle panel at SDCC started with a fun animated crossover in which Eggsy met Archer!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Forest Whitaker, Travis Fimmel, Elena Anaya, Donald Sutherland, Billie Lourd, Vin Diesel, Kristen Bell and Benedict Cumberbatch.
