Toyota x STUDIO 4C – PES: Love Humanity Trailer with English Subtitles
I’ve been a big fan of Studio 4C ever since I saw Tekkonkinkreet — and found out they were responsible for one of my favorite The Animatrix sequences — and I got fully involved with Asian media, so I couldn’t help but wonder what this was when I got the press release in my email.
Toyota Motor Corporation is introducing a new website promotion called, PES: Peace Eco Smile, with the theme: “our love of humanity and energy that we create moves us emotionally.”
World renowned animation production company, Studio 4C (Memories, Steamboy, Tekkonkinkreet), collaborated with Toyota to create an original heart-warming comedic love story animation series of seven episodes lasting between three to four minutes, where an alien traveler, PES (Masato Kokubun), falls in love with earthling Kurumi (Yumi Uchiyama) after he saves her from a fall.
Love Humanity, the first series of the project, will have each of its episodes released once a month on the project’s YouTube account.
In 2013, the second series, Share the Value of Diversity, will be available followed by a third series.
I love when Japan does this kind of publicity. Studio 4C was last involved with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, when they commissioned an animated short about visiting the city. You can watch the results in the Welcome to Tokyo website.

WILL be watching this!!!! I absolutely ADORE everything Studio 4C stands for… HaHA.
@Camiele, Studio 4C has an amazing creative view. Have you seen Tenkkonkinkreet (my favorite actress voices there as Shiro), it’s available in the US, so it should be available in a place like Netflix. Though, I really think that with the level of detail in their animation… the bigger the screen, the better.
@amy, OH MY GOD ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS OF ALL TIME!!!! I own that shizzle, like it’s really deep between me and Tekkonkinkreet. I happened upon by accident. I asked a friend of mine to suggest some good anime while we were browsing and she said, “Do you like funny, dramatic…” I’m more a fan of the dramatic and supernatural as regards manga and anime. She said, “Try this one.” And handed me Tekkonkinkreet. Been in love with it and Studio 4C ever since.
@Camiele, have you read the manga?? I actually think it’s stunning that Studio 4C did this series in full color considering the other is known as Black & White. xD I love everything about that movie, and it’s got specially effective voice acting.
Oh my god. When I read the Black and White manga I literally flipped my shit at work!!! It’s stunning work that Studio 4C did. It seems like they took the palette for the opening page and just made an entire uinverse around it. And don’t even get me started on the camera angles and the story… just GAH!
I could literally fangirl over Tekkonkinkreet for CENTURIES! Hey… I think I’m going to do a Life in Film… you haen’t already chosen this one have you…?
@Camiele, no, I didn’t. LOL And we also don’t have a review of Tekkonkinkreet (manga or movie), so you are free to fangirl all you want about those two.
@amy, O.O
OH MY GOD!!!!!!! FLAILS ABOUT LIKE A 5-YEAR-OLD ON POP ROCKS
