Happy new year, everyone! Here’s to a 2018 with more writing and more movies. Looking back at my movie-watching last year, I don’t think I watched too many films from the West, so this list seems incredibly unbalanced.
Wonder Woman is the best thing out of the DCEU, and while that’s not saying much what with how irregular that franchise has been since its beginning, this film is good on itself.
Ann Hui’s most recent film follows the life of a woman, who is one of the key figures during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, set in the 1940s.
While Kong: Skull Island is a movie with obvious flaws, it delivers what it set up to do, that is giving us an entertaining action/adventure film that introduces new mythology to the franchise.
Sometimes, there’s nothing better than sitting down and watching a great documentary.
