I always thought that McIntyre’s acoustic soft pop rock was pretty good, Meet Joe Mac being one of my favorite albums of his. So when I tell you I was surprised to listen to this autotuned version of McIntyre, it’s because I wasn’t expecting such a synthesized album.

It is truly sad to see a nearly 40-year-old guy trying to sound like a 20-something idol, with somewhat catchy tunes but truly uninspiring lyrics. But maybe those lyrics do explain it better with:

“Back in the headlines
in the papers
hanging on
he’s such a loser
when is that kid
ever gonna grow up
no I don’t/wanna grow up”

I wonder if Joe Mac is trying to be ironic. Should I give him the benefit of doubt?

Rating: ★★☆☆☆
