The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer 2

The second trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been screened before during the US screenings of Pixar’s Brave back in June, but it has finally shown up online.

For those who don’t know about the film’s premise, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy and follows the quest of home-loving hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) to win a share of the treasure guarded by the dragon, Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, who will appear in the second Hobbit film). Bilbo’s journey takes him from light-hearted, rural surroundings into more sinister territory, especially when he meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum (Andy Serkis).

The new trailer hardly differs from the first trailer. However, new footage includes Bilbo reacting to Gandalf’s (Ian McKellen) arrival at Bag End, a shot of the titular hobbit hiding behind a tree, and the company running through the woods.

Not long ago, Peter Jackson decided to turn his adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit into three films. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premieres in theaters on December 14, 2012, with The Hobbit: There and Back Again following the next year on December 13, 2013. The third film, as of yet untitled, is expected to debut around 2014.
