Tetsuya Nakashima’s The World of Kanako Trailer

Lo and behold. ‘Tis a thing of beauty. As everything that is directed by Tetsuya Nakashima, and if there’s anything to go by- it looks like his latest movie is a lot more Memories of Matsuko than it is Confessions.

Based on the novel by Akio Fukamachi, The World of Kanako (渇き, Kawaki) follows a former detective (Koji Yakusho) searching for his disappeared pristine model of a daughter Kanako (debuting Nana Komatsu), which gives him insight into her shocking life. Acidic heavy musical sequences, animation et all.

Satoshi Tsumabuki, Joe Odagiri, Miki Nakatani — back with Nakashima since MoM — Ai Hashimoto, Fumi Nikaido, Munetaka Aoki, Jun Kunimura, and Asuka Kurosawa complete the cast.

The World of Kanako is set to open July 4th, 2014. I’m mad excited.
