Moonrise Kingdom Trailer

Three years after directing Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Anderson returns with Moonrise Kingdom — and by the looks of the trailer, it seems like this could be a really great film.

Co-written with Roman Coppola, Moonrise Kingdom is set in the 1960s following two 12-year olds (Jared Gilman & Kara Hayward) who fall in love and run away into the wilderness, all the while keeping a secret pact.

Unfortunately for the kids, they live on an island off the coast of New England and a storm’s coming. The usually tranquil island community is turned on its head as various authorities, from the sheriff (Bruce Willis) to the local boy scout leader, try and track down the couple.

The ensemble cast includes Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Jason Schwartzman, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward and Bob Balaban. Moonrise Kingdom is set to premiere on May 25, 2012.

looks like a good one, though – I gotta be honest here, I haven’t LOVED a Wes Anderson movie since Tenenbaums. This makes it seem a little more in tune with that with a mix of his earlier work :)

@amy, I thought Fantastic Mr. Fox was awesome. The trailer seems to have elements from all his previous works, if I’m not mistaken.

@Rodrigo, I liked the animation in Mr. Fox but I was a bit bored by it. Yeah, the trailer for this gave me a lot of vibe from Rushmore – the kid seems the type, and the girl gave me the Margo vibe from Tenenbaums haha.
