Martha (Elizabeth Olsen, little sister of the Mary Kate and Ashley) is a damaged woman haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, who struggles to reconnect with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.

Martha Marcy May Marlene was directed by Sean Durkin — one of the producers of Antonio Campos’ Afterschool — who won this year’s Sundance Film Festival’s Best Director.

The cast is completed by John Hawkes, Sarah Paulson, Hugh Dancy and Brady Corbet.

Martha Marcy May Marlene opens in America on July 10, 2011.
