Kiki Sugino’s Snow Woman Trailer

Kiki Sugino’s third feature length film, Snow Woman (雪女), is gearing for its commercial release in Japan this coming 4th of March. This ‘secondYuki Onna post of the day is based on the ghost stories of Lafcadio Hearn (known in Japan as Koizumi Yakumo), who is best known for his books about Japan, especially its legends and ghost stories.

In here, a hunter (Munetaka Aoki) sees a snow woman killing his mentor one snowy night in the mountains. The ghost tells him that if he tells anyone, she would be taking his life, drifting off and letting the hunter live his life until 14 years had passed with his wife and daughter.

Snow Woman had its world premiere at last year’s edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival [1].
