Keanu Reeves’ Man of Tai Chi Trailer

Some time ago I saw the concept clip for Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut — a martial arts film. It wasn’t that I wanted to see the film by the man who “knows Kung Fu.” However, the way Keanu was approaching the film was intriguing. He was using a camera set on a dolly that was able to track the action — or fighting sequences — as it was happening.

I don’t think you can see much of it in the trailer that has just been released, and I’m not sure about the story or the acting (Look! Karen Mok is in it!), but damn- Man of Tai Chi sure does look cool! Derek Hui is editing, and he did pretty good with Wu Xia.

Man of Tai Chi is about this Tai Chi master (Tiger Hu Chen, who’s done stunt work for The Matrix, as well as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) who’s tested by a man (Reeves) to see how good he is, but in reality Reeves’ character only wants to see a good-hearted man of Tai Chi become a killer.

If Universal is distributing this US-China co-production, does that mean I get to see this at my local multiplex?

I have high hopes that this doesn’t become Tai Chi Zero or Hero.
