John Woo’s The Crossing Trailer with English Subtitles

The first official look at John Woo’s Asian historical romance war epic is out with subtitles!

Budgeted at $40M USD, The Crossing (太平轮) focuses on the story of the sinking of the Taiping steamer in 1949, and will focus on the stories of three couples aboard fleeing China for Taiwan during the revolution. The screenplay was written by Hui-Ling Wang (Eat Drink Man Woman; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Lust, Caution) and will be presented as a two-part film starring Zhang Ziyi, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Song Hye-kyo, Huang Xiaoming, Masami Nagasawa, Bowie Lam, Tong Dawei.

Though it’s touted as China’s Titanic, Woo’s more inclined to compare it to Gone with the Wind.

The first part of The Crossing will be released on December 2nd this year, while The Crossing 2 in May 2015.
