Helter Skelter Trailer

Adapted from the manga of the same name by Kyoko Okazaki, Mika Ninagawa (Sakuran) takes Helter Skelter (ヘルタースケルター) to the silver screen at the hand of Sawajiri Erika, who makes her return to the big screen after a five-year absence.

Helter Skelter follows a top idol star, Ririko (Sawajiri), who undergoes multiple cosmetic surgeries on different parts of her body to maintain the image she’s built herself as an icon of beauty, until the result of such processes begins taking a toll on her, making the lives of those around her miserable.

Sounds depressing? Helter Skelter is labeled a comedy, most likely a dark comedy, with the stunning visuals of director Ninagawa, who has a background on fashiontography.

The cast is rounded out by Nao Omori, Shinobu Terajima, Gou Ayano, Kiko Mizuhara, Hirofumi Arai, Anne Suzuki, Susumu Terajima, Kaori Momoi, Sho Aikawa, Mieko Harada and Yosuke Kubozuka.

Helter Skelter will be released in Japan on July 14th, 2012.
