Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land (2012) Trailer

The trailer for Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land with Matt Damon and John Krasinski has made its way online.

Matt Damon stars as Steve Butler, a likeable corporate salesman for a natural gas company, who arrives in a small rural town to pick up drilling rights. The locals, struggling to recover from the economic recession, initially appear more than eager to oblige — until a grassroots campaign against the purchase, led by Dustin Noble (Krasinski) and local teacher Frank Yates (Hal Holbrook), starts picking up steam.

The cast includes Frances McDormand, Lucas Black, Rosemarie Dewitt, and Titus Welliver. Danny Elfman is in charge of the film’s score while Damon and Krasinski co-wrote the screenplay.

Promised Land will premiere first in New York and Los Angeles to qualify for award consideration begining December 28, 2012. A wider opening is scheduled for January 2013.
