Yisa Yu – Dream

Chinese female singing contest Super Girl seems to be launching a series of female solo artists on the market, some more popular than others, some more lasting. From the likes of Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), Bibi Zhou Bichang, Laure Shang Wenjie, and Huang Ying, it appears like their female idols encompass a broad variety of genres.

Give way to Yisa Yu (郁可唯), a contestant that placed fourth on last year’s season just behind Huang Ying — both beaten by winner Vivi Jiang Yingrong.

Last year, Yisa Yu released her debut album titled Blue Shorts (蓝短裤), and it took almost one whole year to get her first hit single in Taiwan — which not many Mainland China artists can achieve.

The single that made it across the sea is called Dream (夢想紀念日) — though it literally translates to Dream Anniversary or Dream Day — was written by lyricist Tina Wang (王雅君) with a style that most resembles happy Chinese music with melancholic hints composed by Yu herself.

The video was directed by Taiwanese MV director Chen Yingzhi (陈映之).
