XIA – 11 am

Okay. I know, I know. I’ve not actually posted a video for decades. BUT. Today was just… I could NOT neglect to post this video. I just couldn’t. XIA comes back with the first single from his next solo album. Entitled 11 am (11시 그 적당함), the video is highlighted with live (yes… LIVE) vocals as SK’s crowned best idol vocalist walks through a desert of speakers and forgotten knick-knacks. It’s just… from the moment it starts… chills.

The video was shot in one take, and according to sources at CJES Entertainment, it’s the first music video in Korea using live vocals instead of a backtrack [1]. Just watch it.

LOEN Entertainment released the video on their YT account. As of yet (and unsurprising) there aren’t any details on the director of the “special clip.” When (meaning IF) we get that info, it’ll be made available!

— Editor’s Note —

According to quick research (is this too much work, Kpop blogs?), this MV was directed by The Fly Blue (though hangul is this: 비상청춘, which Google translates as “Emergency Youth“), with art direction by Jinmo Kwon (권진모), who — according to this Twitter account — has directed music videos for Epik High, NELL, Wheesung, TVXQ, Super Junior, SHINee, 2AM, Beast, 4Minute, MissA, 2NE1, f(x), Girls’ Generation, Seo Taiji, among many others.

They’ve basically created every single Kpop music video you’ve ever loved.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
