Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

Taylor Swift makes a departure from her signature country musical style and goes for the pop genre with her latest single Shake It Off, the first single from her fifth studio album 1989. And in case you’re thinking about the title being the year in which Swift was born, you’re correct.

The video was directed by Mark Romanek and was shot in June 2014 over 3 days in Los Angeles. Lots of varied dancing styles, multiple wardrobe changing — including Swift looking like Lady Gaga — and more of the same going on for pretty much the entire video.

Here’s Swift words about the making of the video.

“It was so much fun. I woke up every day of that shoot and couldn’t wait to get to set. We had twerking, which was so funny. Those girls were trying to teach me how, and it’s just never gonna happen. I tried really hard. They were teaching me what they do, and there’s like a science to it – they’re like digging their heels into the floor without you seeing their legs move, but their butts’ moving. It’s mind-blowing to me. They were explaining it all to me, and it’s so above my comprehension of how to understand your body.”

1989 will be released on October 27, 2014.

I thought I was going to hate it, but… I didn’t. I actually giggle a couple of times with the video- I’m not sure about the song, but the video brings it home.
