Shreya Ghoshal & Ganesh Chandanshive – Deewani Mastani

It’s promotional week! Star Wars: The Force Awakens [Trailer] just launched a poster [1], the rumors that the first trailer of Dilwale will be attached to Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo [1]… and now Bajirao Mastani [Trailer] has just launched the first clip for Deewani Mastani, which features Deepika Padukone choreographed by Remo D’Souza — is that surprising? Because I only know D’Souza for his contemporary moves~~~

Then there’s pure Sanjay Leela Bhansali crack. Visual CRACK.

With the voices of  Shreya Ghoshal and Ganesh Chandanshive, as well as a choir of Qawwali voices; the music was also done by Bhansali, and counts with lyrics by Siddharth Garima (in Hindi), on top of Qawwali sections (Sufism devotional music) by Nasir Faraaz, and sections in Marathi by Ganesh Chandanshive.

This most ostentatious sequence shot in the most expensive set of the production, a recreation of the Aina Mahal, a 18th Century palace, is being compared to the number of Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya [clip] from the classic film Mughal-E-Azam [cherry: Beginner’s Guide to Indian Cinema] — topping it off with the look provided by designer Anju Modi.

It’s gorgeous, and it’s >almost< a pity I have to watch this on my TV, instead of the theater. “Almost” because then I think about how mad people make me at the movies. LOL

Bajirao Mastani is set to open December 18th in India and other desi places… and it’s still battling it out with Dilwale. I just hope it makes enough money (or a lot!) to not make these expensive period pieces a rarity among the action romcoms that plague the industry.
