Rapsody feat. Raheem DaVaughn – Non Fiction

The world premiere of Rapsody’s newest single Non Fiction just dropped today and I’m sooooo excited that I get the chance to post this piece of greatness.

This black and white feature compliments of Kenneth Price is another gorgeous piece of hip-hop. The smoothness of Raheem DeVaughn’s smoky vocal meshes flawlessly with the unshakable ebb and flow of Rapsody’s lyricism. Those who’ve gotten the album will notice a presence missing. Ab Soul originally was in the first cut of the video, but unforeseen circumstances forced them to have to reshoot. Unfortunately, their schedules didn’t allow all four participants (Rapsody, DeVaughn, producer 9th Wonder, and Ab Soul) to be in the video at the same time. However, the track is no less powerful, Rapsody’s brazenness and confidence complimented by her flawless lyrical precision.

As her first video of the New Year, I’m excited to see what Madame Rapsody has in store for us throughout 2013. I’d say it makes perfect sense that an artist I’ve pretty much been in love with from first listen would be the first thing I post here at YAM Magazine in 2013.

Her album The Idea of Beautiful is available on iTunes or at Amazon.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
