P!nk – Fuckin’ Perfect

Fuckin’ Perfect is the second single to promote Pink’s greatest hits collection, Greatest Hits… So Far!!!. The music video was directed by Dave Meyers, who’s worked with Pink on several other music videos, including Raise Your Glass and Stupid Girls.

The song was written by Pink, Shellback, and Max Martin and produced by the latter two.

What do you think of the themes in the video?

Do you think Dave Meyers is releasing good music videos?

What do you think of the changes in Pink’s music?

I think P!nk is selling herself short as an artist to play the everywoman, I think Dave Meyers is a tool who only remotely appears to have any semblance of talent when he works with P!nk, and I think the themes in this video are pretentious, whiney, and from a filmmaking perspective poorly presented. Why are we supposed to feel for this girl? And am I supposed to be happy that she got knocked up by a dude she clearly doesn’t enjoy having sex with? This whole effort was a fail from start to finish.

@LinzerDinzer, okay… I’ll give you that I only usually like Dave Meyers when he works with P!nk, and that he’s probably done one of the cheesiest (or the cheesiest) Britney Spears video (though Lucky is a pretty much cheese as a song). He tends to be overly-literal with the music, but he’s got two or three others well-received videos, right?

As for Pink, I think her last good album has been Try This, which is her least selling album… at least in America. After I’m Not Dead was a good seller, I guess she decided the formula worked. I can’t really blame her for trying to make a living… but then again, I gotta draw the line if the next album sounds and is similar to those two.

@yam magazine, I do. So what? No pun intended.

@LinzerDinzer, about the video. I think it’s a case of Meyers being too literal again. Just checking out the lyrics, it’s about someone who’s making mistakes or gets things wrong, and ends up in the wrong place.

In this case, the little girl who decides to pull the other kid’s hair for picking on her and her teddy… ultimately getting nagged by the teacher who didn’t catch the other kid.

Also… I’m Chinese. Getting an F is a no-no. That’s the only thing I would object in the video. That’s just not right. LOL

“Done looking for the critics, cause they’re everywhere
They dont like my jeans, they don’t get my hair
Exchange ourselves, and we do it all the time
Why do we do that? Why do I do that? ”

Kinda ironic this site is all about criticizing stuff, and that we’re having an opinion about this video. Though, to be fair. We review all this stuff to help others choose what they could watch/listen/read. That’s my defense.

The hard part about critique is nowadays it takes just as much time to plow through all the reviews as it does to just consume the material. I do the reviews because I actually want to make music videos, and doing LinzerDinzerTV forces Mary and I to whip out the camera and Premiere every week while I can explore what I do and don’t like about videos, and gain a following. This song/vid seems to more be directed at critiquing someone personally, not their work.

I just wish Pink made videos like her performance of Glitter in the Air. :/

@LinzerDinzer, woah. Tough one, we should get more comments like that in here. Wonder what Amy’s gonna say… she likes P!nk, you know?
