Mika Nakashima – If the World Ends Tomorrow

Mika Nakashima has unveiled her first music video since her 2010 release of The Most Beautiful Me (一番綺麗な私を, Ichiban Kireina Watashi wo). The single titled If the World Ends Tomorrow (明日世界が終わるなら, Ashita Sekai ga Owarunara) is the main theme in Japan to promote the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution film, which opens in the US on September 12th.

Mika Nakashima will play a small role in the movie, which brings back butt-kicker Milla Jovovich with director Paul W.S. Anderson together, alongside Michelle Rodriguez and Li Bingbing.

Resident Evil: Retribution will be opening almost everywhere worldwide on the second week of September.

And official YouTube upload is unlikely thanks to Sony Japan.

A short version of the video is available on YouTube.

— EDIT —

There’s another version of the video without the Resident Evil footage.

Hole up hole up hole up… Michelle’s back? But… didn’t… wasn’t…. Didn’t home girl get shot in the first movie because she got bitten? I mean, I haven’t watched any of them after the first one, but still… what?

@Camiele, no idea what is going. xD so I cannot help you hahaha.

@amy, HaHa. That’s fine. And sorry. I know that had nothing to do with the video. But it sorta threw me for a loop.

In any event, Mika-sama is completely gorgeous! And her voice is so rich. Yeah… I’m a fan.

@Camiele, I remember seeing Mika as Nana, and just thinking “oh, look as this emo goth girl” LOL and then I listened to her discography… and outside the album she did for Nana, her music choice is nothing like you would expect to match her image.

But she hasn’t looked this good – like she’s gone 3 years younger in the last 2 years xD – in a while. I remember her doing promotions for Ichiban Kireina, and she looked a little bit tired and her voice felt tired. Then something happened to her, she had something in her throat or something, cancelled activities. I’m looking forward to her comeback and live performances.

@amy, Well I think I’ll start scoping out her music. I love the tone of her voice. Where do you suggest I start?

    • amy says:

@Camiele, well, you can start with her basic discography (just studio albums, no EPs or singles xD you know me.) Maybe give a try to LOVE first and VOICE to give yourself an idea of her sound. THE END is the album for Nana, so it’s the one album that is more Nana than Nakashima it feels.

Her 2010 album STAR had some interesting tracks, but my favorite was Ichiban Kireina (track 2).

Well crap, Mika made me cry there for a minute. Woman has a voice like no other. I got into her back when Love came out in 2003 and have been enjoying her ever since. I’m glad she’s able to return to singing after her health issues. We weren’t sure if she’d be able to – so I’m extra happy. ^_^

@Camiele I hope you have fun getting into her. :)

As far as the RE movies go – the characters that have been killed off are coming back just to mess with our heads. They’re either coming back as clones or else as part of Alices’ mind playing tricks on her. Interesting they brought Mika back again considering her minute part in the previous film. Any way you look at it, I’m excited to see it. :D

This post isn’t entirely accurate. Nakashima Mika had two music videos between Ichiban Kireina Watashi wo and If the World Ends Tomorrow. After Ichiban Kireina Watashi wo she released Dear and then Love is Ecstasy shortly after.

@Amy, The reason she took a short break is because she had problems with her ears that caused her to not be able to hear her voice while she sang. Luckily she recovered!

Hi, @Birdfoots~ thanks for pointing out about the videos. We totally forgot about Love Is Ecstasy (and we have it on the site!). I’m looking forward to her live performance! Hope that Sony Japan lifts up that region restriction on their content!

[…] The video, which features a gothic-fairy-forest-styled Nakashima vocalizing in a beautifully shot greenhouse contrasted with the gloomy forest, which seems to have been directed by Takashi Tadokoro (田所貴司), who has worked with Nakashima before [1][2][3][4][5][6]. […]
